What Makes Great Teachers.
According to this video
the great teachers set high goals and they make certain that every student
keeping up and are not afraid to change their lesson plans if it’s necessary
even in front of the students. I do agree that these three qualities are vital
to be a good teacher and at the same time I would like to mention that it is
difficult to be such a teacher.
While keeping high
goals in the mind catering the needs of every student individually is not an
easy task. Also changing a lesson plan spontaneously when a need
arise is also not easy, to do such a thing the teacher should be an innovative
and a far sighted person. So it is true that those things can be done by a
great teacher only.This does not mean that
there are not such teachers. When I was a student, I was lucky enough to meet a
very few teachers which I could put under the above category and I consider
them as my role models.
Another fact mentioned
in the video is that to be a great teacher it is not necessary to have lots of
teaching experience, Masters Degrees or outgoing personalities. I cannot agree
with that opinion. I believe that a great teacher should have a considerable
subject knowledge and “experience” plays a vital role in making a well round
teacher. Also for a teacher it is advantages to have an outgoing personality.
So I believe that a
great teacher is a person who has all six qualities mentioned above. Such
teachers are rare but they do exist all over the world…!
